University’s Sustainable Travel Hub Complete

We are pleased to announce the completion of the Sustainable Travel Hub at the University of Derby’s Kedleston Road campus. This innovative project, a collaboration between Derby City Council and the University of Derby, has created a unique hub for sustainable travel, offering multiple transport choices in one location. It has enhanced sustainable travel facilities for both students and staff, becoming the first of its kind in the city.

Michael Clarke, Senior Architect at Morrison Design, said: “The design promotes greener travel and has successfully incorporated environmentally friendly features, reflecting the University’s current and forward thinking sustainable aspirations. It is encouraging to see transformation of an existing car park into a welcoming shared surface space that now enhances cycle and pedestrian access to and through the Kedleston Road campus with an environmentally considered approach.”

Morrison Design worked closely with Seddon (main contractor), Rodgers Leask (structural and civil engineering), CPW (building services), and Socotec Building Control (approved inspectors). Their collaboration ensured the successful delivery of the project which will play a pivotal role in shaping the city’s sustainable travel landscape for years to come.

The Sustainable Travel Hub is now open, and we are excited to see it being used by the University community.

Many thanks to Michael Clarke, Sunny Kochchat, Sophie Cantrill, Dale Roberts and John Robson for their hard work on this project.
