Architecture

We’re a team of visionary architects with a passion for buildings and a keen eye for detail.

What makes us different?

We’re a pretty easy bunch of people to talk to – in fact, we pride ourselves on that. We listen to you, our client. We hear what you need for the space, how you will use it, how you dream it to be, your hopes, your inspirations. We hear the unspoken words and get to the essence of what you truly want.

We talk to the future users of the spaces we design – we observe behaviours and practical needs. Ultimately, we create spaces which are inspirational and practical, spaces both you and your users will love.

Our specialist areas are hotels and hospitality, science and technology, public sector (including healthcare and education) and masterplanning – we have a ton of experience in these sectors and always aim to deliver projects which exceed your expectations.

We have a director led approach – so no matter how small or large your project is you’ll always have one of our directors at the helm. Our team are experienced in AutoDesk Revit Architecture, allowing us to contribute to the inclusion of BIM on new projects.

Principal Designer (CDM & BrPD)

Since 2015, clients are required by law to appoint a Principal Designer (CDM).

Principal Designer (BrPD)

In 1994 the ‘Construction Design Management ‘(CDM) regulations were introduced to put the safety of workers and the public at the highest priority, requiring Clients to make suitable arrangements for managing project risks.
The responsibility for Health and Safety always remains with the Client and the role of the Principal Designer is to aid the Client in this legal duty by coordinating all designers to ensure that risks, which are inherent in the building design and construction, are considered.
Appointing a Principal Designer early in the design supports a Client in ensuring that risks are considered early, so reducing late design changers.
Morrison Design can undertake the Principal Designer role, on projects where we are the project lead, ensuring Health & Safety is managed expertly throughout the design phase.

The Building Regulations (2010) are statutory instruments which impose legal duties on building owners and those instructing work.
The Client must ensure design work is carried out so that the building would comply with the Building Regulations.
Following the Grenfell tragedy, recent amendments to the building regulations have created legally defined Dutyholders;

  • Client, (Overall responsibility)
  • Principal Designer (Br PD), (ensuring design compliance)
  • Principal Contractor, (ensuring that work is carried out as designed)
  • Morrison Design Ltd, if appointed as the Lead Designer, is best placed to undertake the Br PD role.

Project Management

Our in-house Project Managers bring the architect’s vision to life.

This is the bit where we really roll our sleeves up and get our hands dirty. Having project management in-house provides our clients with a slicker service where communication is faster and more effective.

Our Project Managers bring together multiple consultants from across the country, ensuring clients and contractors are all motivated and aligned to achieve the best possible result.

Our team can work with you to phase site works – accommodating refurbishment in occupied buildings and reducing loss of revenue.

Our commitment to our clients is to always:

  • communicate in a way you understand
  • be honest – even if it’s a tricky conversation to have, we will always be transparent
  • keep our commitments; if we say we’ll do it, you can rest easy it’s going to happen
  • be nice – there’s no room for anything else at Morrison Design

“We’ve partnered with Morrison Design for many years and they continually demonstrate their deep understanding of our business and what our guests wish to experience when they visit us.”
