We’ve collaborated with Crimson Hotels to complete several projects at the DoubleTree by Hilton, West End.
The first project was the conversion and re-branding of the Bonnington Hotel (Park Inn) to become Doubletree by Hilton hotel. The public areas, ground and basement levels of the 212-bedroom hotel were completely re-planned; the restaurant moved into a reconfigured ground floor level with a new kitchen and reception, bar, lounge and conference banquet facilities. Fire safety upgrades, re-roofing, a new entrance canopy and facade refurbishment and a phased refurbishment of guest bedrooms were all completed.
Next, there was a major re-design and space planning exercise to create additional guest rooms within two existing floor levels at the rear of the hotel. To maximise the space, we demolished the existing floor levels on the rear block and re-designed the back of the hotel to create new 5th and 6th level floors. Overall, the work created 24 brand new guest rooms, increasing room capacity to 261. We also refurbished a further 38 rooms to deliver three different types of room finishes.
Morrison Design have also successfully obtained planning permission for another expansion, adding a total of 11 new bedrooms. The bedrooms will be on the ground and basement levels, currently used as back of house and offices.
“We’re delighted to be working at the hotel again. It’s always a compliment when a client continues to work with our team. This latest project is set to increase the capacity of the hotel which is always a challenge in central London with tight plots to work within. We’ve utilised basements in many projects and it’s a fantastic way to add extra bedrooms.”
