John completed his 15 mile commute up and down the Derbyshire hills this week on a vintage Raleigh Chopper – all in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.
The ride formed part of John’s 2,024 mile challenge which sees him cycling, walking and running 2,024 miles in 2024 – an average of over 39 miles every single week.
John spent months restoring a vintage Mk3 Raleigh Chopper especially for the event and is now auctioning the bike off to raise even more funds for Alzheimer’s Society. Take a look at some snippets from the ride below:
“Everyone took notice of the bike, or maybe the grown idiot riding a child’s bike! Either way I’m hoping it has raised some cash for this worthy charity. I completed 16 miles in the end and those hills were tough. Big thanks to my wife, Gillian and our kids George and Molly, who drove behind me as support crew – I needed those drinks and chocolate.”
“Both of my parents suffered with dementia and it’s an illness that not only took over their lives but the rest of the family too in terms of supporting them. I was therefore delighted when the company chose Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year. Last year I did Trek26 for the charity along with my sister and our family friend Bob. This year I would like to go one better, so I’m cycling and running 2024 miles before the end of the year.” John Robson, Senior Architectural Technician at Morrison Design.
