A new research and innovation centre for the University of Derby. The Facility for Omics Research in Metabolism (FORM) focuses on the effect that foods, vitamins, supplements, and drugs have on the human body. It’s supporting the education of 800 highly skilled learners as well as providing over 20 jobs.
The project, which was part-funded by D2N2, involved the conversion of two existing teaching rooms into a specialist 138m² laboratory, comprising a lobby, preparation room and laboratory under negative pressure to ‘Containment Level 2’.
“The team worked with the University’s laboratory team to develop the initial brief and undertake design development, together with the consultants and contractor, to meet the requirements for the laboratory. It’s an area in which we have specialist expertise, so we were well placed to design and execute this project.”
