Morrison Design are thrilled to announce the completion of one of the smallest, yet most challenging projects the firm has undertaken. The team successfully transformed an unused, narrow space adjacent to the DoubleTree by Hilton London – Victoria into a luxury duplex suite with a separate meeting room.

At the beginning of the project, the narrowest point between the hotel and the neighboring property measured just 610mm. Despite this tight constraint, the team put in huge effort to make the most of every inch of space, widening the space in the process. The addition of roof lights plays a key role in flooding the interior with natural daylight, while also offering an impressive view straight up at the 10 towering floors above.
John Robson, Senior Architectural Technician at Morrison Design, said: “We had to construct a weathertight external structural wall from the inside only of the extension. This proved to be the most challenging part of the design process. The combination of creativity, technical expertise, and dedication from everyone involved was key to overcoming the various design challenges presented by the project.”
The two-storey extension is now fully operational, adding value and functionality to the building. Its modern design, efficient use of space, and thoughtful consideration of natural light are testaments to the team’s dedication to excellent design.

Morrison Design collaborated with Hockley Building Services (M&E), RSD Interiors (Interior Design), Rodgers Leask Ltd (Structural Engineer) and Socotec Building Control (Building Control).
