The CPD focused on the two major changes: neutral carbon and fire regulations.
Neutral carbon includes improved thermal standards for new and refurbished buildings – there will be a requirement to show evidence of the building’s insulation, ensuring buildings are energy efficient.
The updated fire regulations have been shaped by the tragic Grenfell Tower fire. The guidance on cladding materials and how they’re used has been improved.
Dale said: “Building regulations, although a short document, references another 22 volumes of Approved Documents and two or three of these change every few years. Therefore, it’s critical that the team understand the new regulations and how they impact on our designs.”
