Meet the team: Jordan Johal

Jordan Johal, Architectural Assistant

Job title: Architectural Assistant.

When did you join Morrison Design? 2014.

How did you get into architecture? I’ve wanted to be an architect since I was young. I’ve always enjoyed art and design and my dad is a builder. Those influences led me to have a keen interest in building design and architecture.

What are you currently working on? A new bar and pre-function area for local hotel Morley Hayes, a new central London hotel and refurbishment of a local doctor’s surgery – Horizon Healthcare.

Which project are you most proud of? My first project was the Doubletree by Hilton hotels at Euston, London. We converted the old gym space into guest bedrooms. It was a fantastic experience for my first project.

What do you love most about your job? Figuring out how to bring a design to life. The initial designs always look pretty on paper but the challenge of working it out in real life still surprises me.

What’s it like to work at Morrison Design? It’s nice and relaxed here – the directors allow the team to have the space and freedom to manage their own work. It’s great to have more experienced team members who are always on hand to help when needed.

Why should clients choose to work with Morrison Design?
We have tons of experience in our sectors – hotels, science and technology and commercial. The team are dedicated to delivering the best client experience and end results.

And just for fun…

Favourite building: Centre Pompidou. It was the inspiration for my favourite trainers. Showcasing the inner workings of the building inspired the bubble in the now iconic Nike Air Max’s.

Favourite food: Chicken wings.

Favourite brand: Supreme clothing – it took inspiration from skateboard and streetwear culture and mixed it with high fashion.

Something you dislike: Sparkling water.
