Following on from the successful new Omics laboratory project, Morrison Design, appointed architects, have started on site on a new laboratory refurbishment for University of Derby.
The project involves the refurbishment of two existing Molecular Biology teaching laboratories which are to be upgraded in line with the Universities requirements for ‘Clinical Laboratory Standards for IBMS.’ (Institute of Biomedical Science).
Dale Roberts, Architect at Morrison Design, said: “We’re excited to be working with the University of Derby on another laboratory project. The proposal comprises the creation of an additional entrance lobby & Molecular Biology Room, alterations to the existing ventilation system, with a new extract system, to maintain a negative pressure in the labs and alterations to local fire detection system, power and lighting.”
Morrison Design are collaborating with contractors Seddon Construction, Mechanical and Electrical by CPW, Structural Engineers Rodgers Leask and furniture by Simply Labs.
Work started on site in Spring with completion due in Autumn 2022.
