My day begins at 8am, gently and without rush. The first thing I do is make myself a coffee and sit by the window, a quiet moment to wake up properly before the day starts.
After that, if it is nice weather, I cycle to work along the River Derwent. If not, I take a short drive to the office where my working day begins with catching up with my mentors. These conversations set the tone for everything that follows. I usually work on several projects at the same time, across different RIBA stages. Because of this, time management is essential and my role shifts from project to project. It’s demanding, but it’s also the best preparation I could have for my RIBA Part 3 and Architectural Technologist chartership interviews.
In between my work, I am also part of the Sustainability and Diversity & Inclusion teams at Morrison Design and I help minimise our impact on the environment and make the office space welcoming for everyone. I usually find myself preparing displays in the kitchen on these topics or meeting with other colleagues to discuss our next steps and create action plans. I believe even tiny changes can result in big impacts.

Lunch always seems to arrive faster than expected. I try to eat healthily, so my colleagues often find me in the kitchen with a salad. The kitchen is my favourite place in the office – it’s where people gather and talk; It’s the perfect spot to socialise, share thoughts on projects and enjoy a relaxed cup of coffee.
The afternoons are usually just me and my laptop. This is my focused time, spent working on drawings or specification schedules. I work best without interruptions, fully immersed in the technical side of the job.
Around 5pm, I head home. By the time I arrive, I’m hungry and ready to cook. I enjoy being in the kitchen, even though I’m not a great cook yet. I’m trying to learn and experiment with Cypriot dishes, some turn out better than others, but the process is part of the fun.
After dinner, it’s chill time. I usually end the evening by reading for my RIBA Part 3 course. It’s a calm, focused way to close the day and prepare myself for what’s ahead.
It’s a routine built around discipline, curiosity and steady progress and it’s helping me grow, both professionally and personally.
