Meet the team: Nidhi Badrakia

Job Title: Junior Project Manager

When did you join Morrison Design? October 2023

How did you get into project management? I studied Architecture in India and worked on architectural and design projects. Through that work, I realised that I really enjoyed the management of design. I studied for my Masters in Project Management (Construction), graduating in 2022, and have worked in the design industry ever since.

What are you currently working on? I’m working on several central London hotel projects – the 5* Trafalgar Hotel, DoubleTree Tower of London and DoubleTree Victoria. I’m really enjoying them – it’s a nice mix, and they’re all at different stages, which is a good combination to learn from.

Which project are you most proud of? Before I moved to the UK, I have worked on exhibition projects in India. I worked with a university client who hosted a design exhibition in a gallery. It was a huge project and the first that I designed and managed on my own, so I’m very proud of that. It was also a bit of a turning point for me as it was on this project I realised my preference for the management side of the role.

What do you love most about your job? Meeting new people. Especially those who are creative and technically minded that I get to meet in the construction industry. It’s clear to see the long-lasting relationships Morrison Design has built with clients, suppliers and contractors and I’m also enjoying building my own relationships with the teams. I’m generally on site at least 2-3 times a month – I love being able to talk to people in person and build up a rapport. I like being able to understand people and how they prefer to work so I can adapt my style to suit.

What’s it like to work at Morrison Design? I absolutely love it! I love the team, and the work environment is a dream. It’s very diverse, helpful and supportive. The whole team are open to diversity and have made me feel very welcome.

Why should clients choose to work with Morrison Design? We understand projects. We listen to the needs and accommodate changes. We take responsibility for any complications and work collaboratively to come to solutions. The collaborative approach to projects is quite unique.
