Meet the team: Dan Sarson

Job title: Senior Architectural Technologist.

When did you join Morrison Design? February 2022.

How did you get into architecture? If you ask my Mum, she says it’s the time we looked at fire evacuation plans in primary school with the local fire brigade! I was fascinated and came home and drew out our house and an evacuation plan for it. From there I did a couple of work experience placements at architecture firms which cemented my career path.

What are you currently working on? I’m collaborating with the team on the Westbury Hotel project, along with a couple of other central London hotel projects.

Which project are you most proud of? I’ve not been here too long but some interesting projects from previous roles have been the conversion of The Old Post Office for Sheffield Hallam University and working with Legal and General with Sky Studios to deliver 14 sound stages and ancillary buildings (offices, car park, screening rooms) to provide additional UK filming space to aid the budding UK film industry.

What do you love most about your job? I love problem solving. I really enjoy detailing and spacial planning too. For me, I love the variety it gives me – there’s never a chance to get bored!

What’s it like to work at Morrison Design? I’m relatively new to the team but I’ve been welcomed into the team. It’s nice to work among people who choose to socialise together and grab a beer after work. There’s always an interesting project – a new job or a new challenge which is very refreshing.

Why should clients choose to work with Morrison Design?
The team always put 110% effort into whatever they’re doing. They provide the client with as much advice and support as they need. We have such a good rapport with our clients – it’s important to us to have a personable approach.

And just for fun…

Favourite building: York Minster holds some special memories as it’s where me and my wife got engaged, however I usually prefer more minimalist styles of architecture.

Favourite food: Chilli.

Favourite brand: Ralph Lauren – I like the quality, the clothing always lasts

Something you dislike: Carling and the song Baby Shark (my niece has made me listen to it way too much!)
