Highfields Fire Station
Beeston, Nottingham
Client: Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service     Year Completed: 2009     Approx Value: n/a

Located in the south west of Nottingham, this flagship project - the first new fire station to be built in Nottingham for 20 years - replaces two existing fire stations with a new state-of-the-art facility, providing a base for whole-time and retained fire fighters, a specialist rescue team and fire protection staff.

n important element of the scheme is the inclusion of the local community, and the building incorporates a suite of community facilities, including three meeting/activity rooms and a faith room, all with dedicated welfare facilities, which can be independently accessed without impinging on the operation of the Fire Station. Another aspect of this involvement is the provision of a viewing gallery in the appliance shed from where operational activities can
be observed.
